Liuben

Victor (Dimitar Nikolov) returns to his childhood home in Bulgaria for his grandfather’s funeral, and decides to stay for the summer. Set in a Bulgarian mountain village where prejudice simmers, this poetic film follows the summer romance that develops between Victor and Liuben (Bozhidar Asenov), two young men who come from the same world, but have very different experiences.

Credited as the first openly gay film from Bulgaria, Liuben tells a heartfelt story of two lovers condemned to be strangers in their own land.
